KINGSTON, Jamaica â Sources have confirmed that singjay J Capri, who was hospitalised for more than a week following a motor vehicle crash, has died.
Social media users on Twitter and Instagram are seemingly in disbelief as they await confirmation while others, including beauty queen Yendi Phillipps, have already started expressing condolences.
Phillipps, using her Instagram handle yendizzle, a short while ago posted a video of her dancing to J Capriâs popular song âReverse itâ, captioning it âBecause I think sheâs one of the most truly talented people dancehall music has seen in a long timeâ¦â adding ââ¦I wish we got a little more time with you and your musical gift but Iâve learned to never ever question our creator.â

Sagitarr Severe Ties With Daseca @sagitarrmusic @MobysRecords
The contract between fast-rising dancehall artiste Sagitarr and Daseca productions has been terminated, ending an almost three- year partnership.
Though the decision to part ways was by mutual agreement, Sagitarr said he had initiated the split.
In a statement released to THE weekend STAR, the So Fast So Speedy singer explained he decided to part ways with Daseca because of the lack of attention the label was showing him regarding his music.
“After almost three years, I got little or no attention from Daseca, no music videos, yet I recorded several songs,” he said, pointing that little was done in terms of promoting his work.
The entertainer said whereas he has no hard feelings towards Daseca, he believes he was given a raw deal from the beginning of the partnership. He believes the original contract he signed with Daseca three years ago was “one-sided”.
“The truth is that they gave me a messed- up contract,” he explained. “The contract said that every work that I did for them, I was paid for, but I never received a cent.”
He believes they could have done more to advance his career.
“I don’t have them up. They make Sagitarr song a play on radio, but they could have done more. Even So Fast So Speedy (referring to the tribute song for Usain Bolt, which went viral after the recently held World Championships), they said they did not rate it.”
When THE weekend STAR contacted Daseca Productions, it was confirmed that the contract with Sagitarr was terminated but no details.
Craig Harrisingh told THE weekend STAR the matter was nothing to get into, as the contract was terminated with mutual understanding between both parties.
He wished Sagitarr all the best in his future endeavours.
Sagitarr has since signed to independent label, Moby’s Records, said things are already looking up.
“From mi sign to Moby’s, mi house a build, the deejay have him vehicle right now. Mi ting a shot a road, now look on mi song, You and Me on the ‘Moonlight’ riddim, it ah connect,” he said.

Major Changes for Sting 2015 @ReggaeSting
The countdown has begun for Sting, arguably one of the most anticipated annual events, and this year Supreme Promotions, the event’s organizer, is planning on a brand-new structure.
Sting 2015, under the theme ‘From Then ‘Til Now’, will mark a revolution for the historic event.
This year’s staging will be centered on honoring the major contributors to Jamaica’s music industry’s longest-running entertainment event. “We have been doing this since 1984 at Cinema II. Our posters are hot tickets.
“Year to year, people would try to get one to place on their walls at home, which indicates the impact of this event.
“It’s not we alone who do this, so we want to take some time to highlight the ones that help us make Sting what it is today,” said Sting creative director Dimario McDowell.
To accommodate the best of what the over 50 acts have to offer, gone are the days of lengthy full sets. A new wave of tighter sets, laced with only hit records from each performer, is the new order.
“We have to create a way to facilitate a large magnitude of artistes – constricted to the same time period, from dusk to dawn – where everybody gets to see who they want and hear what they want, the big tunes,” Sting founder and CEO Isaiah Laing added.
The brand-new structure will also see a mega midnight attraction with two of dancehall’s most sought-after hit makers already secured for the event, which will be held on December 26 at Jamworld.
“Every year, we try to book them, and they always have shows in other parts of the world. They are in high demand ’cause they already cross over into the international market. We reach out to them from early, and they are excited to return,” said Sting conceptualizer Junior ‘Heavy-D’ Fraser.
In a few weeks, a press conference will be used to announce the top giants planned for the event.
Sting is renowned for having its audience witness one-of-a- kind entertainment. There have been memorable clashes involving Titans Shabba Ranks, Ninja Man, Super Cat, Mad Cobra, Beenie Man, and Bounty Killer, as well as outstanding performances from hip-hop greats Notorious BIG, DMX, and Foxy Brown, as well as iconic reggae acts Buju Banton, Freddie McGregor, Patra, and Maxi Priest.
Next month’s event will be no different as ticket purchasers will continue to get the best of reggae and dancehall at the same great price.
The greatest one-night reggae and dancehall show in the world, Sting is already the hot topic on showgoers’ lips.

New york’s own Swashy “Never Get Moody” paints an in macqulet picture of this situation. You just have to listen for yourself.
In addition that. Kritikal “Local & Overseas” is a most for all the thugz who a do dem ting internationally, reall way. And once you a thugz u a go have one a dem thug gal deh, like Tamar Blueprint “If A Your Man” bad gal something. ” I personally believe this is one of the best project fi de year, all hands up”. A champion of a hit from King Mas @KingMAStheRAS
Singer King Mas is ready to strike gold with his latest single Walk Like a Champion. The song samples the Buju Banton recording of the same name, which was a massive hit in the mid 1990’s.
Walk Like a Champion is accompanied by several mixes. King Mas explained why he decided to update the Banton recording.
‘I was born in Boston and growing up in the 1990’s Buju Banton was one of the first voices I remember hearing out of Jamaica and being drawn to as a small child being raised in the states. I’ve always enjoyed fusing the Hip-Hop/R&B/Soul culture I grew up around with the culture of the Caribbean community that I was raised in’, said King Mas.
Listen King Mas ft Anto Neosoul – Walk Like A Champion
He added’ I decided to revamp the classic “Champion” concept and wrote/compose the tune in Boston on the acoustic guitar originally. I recorded the guitar parts in “The Trap” studio out in Los Angeles with my brother “Mitymaose” where he laid down the rest of the riddim track barring the keyboard which was played by Raymond “Ray Keys” Komba (who is of Nigerian descent). Supporting vocals are contributed by an amazing R&B vocalist/songwriter/producer/arranger, and extended family member Varren Wade out of the UK who is also of a Jamaican background. The goal is to give every empress with dignity a tune to “walk out” to in the dance without feeling in any way degraded which is hard to come by in modern dancehall music’.
The version of Walk Like a Champion that the artiste has thrown his muscle behind is the one which features Anto Neosoul.
‘Kanyi Felix made the link with Anto Neosoul. Felix was born and raised out in Nairobi and is the producer behind the official remix. Upon hearing that I was putting together a remix project, he informed me that he had a singer that he wanted to bring in on the project. Anto Neosoul really blew me away. His tone of voice is very unique and many will assume that it’s a female’s voice which is reminiscent of “Jesse Powell” and other male vocalists who sing in a higher vocal register than the average male’ King Mas explained.
King Mas is from musical leanings. Born Glenford Prospere, his mother is from Clarendon, Jamaica while his father, Supreme the former Calypso Monarch winner from Montserrat.
He described his musical journey.
‘It has often been a solitary and winding road being so far from the epicenter of reggae music, which will always be Jamaica. Through the strength of the message, and the depth of the ancestral connection, I have still managed to link with many other musical warriors along the way in spite of my physical isolation. This is what the “Bantu Nation Movement”, my label, is about. The mission is reconnecting the African family across the globe so that we are no longer defined by a limited, parochial perspective’, he said.
King Mas made his recording debut over a decade ago but began to take the art seriously when he dropped his first mix tape New Millennium Rasta in 2010.
‘The mix tape was almost entirely recorded and mixed in the home studio my brother and I shared in Boston at the time. It was a learning experience and neither the resources nor the team were there at that time to have things as “polished” as they could have been. However, it was a start. One must lift stones today in order to move mountains tomorrow’, he shared.
A dancehall version of Walk like a Champion was produced by DJ 3D, son of veteran sound system selector, Delano Thomas of the Renaissance Disco.
King Mas whose uncle Everton ‘Reality’ Weekes wrote the massive hit Hot, Hot, Hot for Calypso singer Arrow in the 1980’s, says he intends to use his voice as a tool for the voiceless to uplift and edify people from all walks of life, through sound and vibration.
